This donation will help the hardworking team of employees and volunteers to carry conservation work to the estate and the surrounding fells. This is vital work and most likely goes unnoticed by 90% of visitors.
Conservation isn’t always about the exotic animals and the endangered plants of far flung places most of us will never get to see. Conservation is also about the maintenance of everyday things such as the green areas we may take for granted. Take for instance the footpaths running from Glenridding to Aira Force, which incidentally offers stunning views down the lake, but just imagine what the path would look like if no one kept it clear of litter and weeds, if no one filled in holes and repaired bridges of the many small becks that cross the path. Well the staff and volunteers at Patterdale Hall Estate carry out this sort of work every day, they clear invasive non native plants, control diseases, clear fallen trees and blockages in the becks, plants native tree and much much more.
