Harsh Beauty

The inspiration for this image was a small ridge of trees on the side of Ullswater. The weather was amazing, hot and sunny with a slight breeze, the sun was heading on its way back down behind the ridge and was highlighting the trees and the birds were busy building nests in the trees. 10 mins later a bank of clouds gently meandered down the lake and swallowed the sun whole. The wind pushing the clouds started to howl and rain was pushed from its soft bed in the sky to pound down on the warm rocks of the ridge.

Nature is beautiful. Nature is harsh and brutal, even for those people that are prepared and dressed to ward of the perils and the whims of the weather.

This piece is a homage to the nature its beauty and its harsh treatment of the mortal man.

This quality 11oz mug is just perfect for the morning wake up coffee or the afternoon brew in the garden (unless its winter and the snow is knee deep)!
